* ''Thunderer'' is Wargaming's interpretation of a post-World War II modernization of the L2 battleship design scheme from the 1920s; L2 was one of a series of design schemes for large battleships that applied lessons learned from World War I naval engagements such as the Battle of Jutland. The effort ultimately culminated in the N3 battleship and G3 battlecruiser designs before their cancellation due to the Washington Naval Treaty.
* As with the ''Conqueror'', the lattice masts reflect the naval architecture of the Royal Navy in the years following World War II.
* ''Thunderer'' was a planned name for one of the second pair of the canceled ''Lion''-class battleships of 1939 that preceded the ''Vanguard''. The contract for ''Thunderer'' was scheduled for 15 November 1939 for Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Limited. After the start of World War II in September, construction of the ''Lion''s was suspended by the Admiralty for one year. On 15 November 1939, work was authorised to resume whenever there was available labour, but it was suspended again in May 1940. In November, the decision to suspend construction was reaffirmed and eventually all design work ceased in April 1943.
