As the capstone of the American standard battleship line, Tier X ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' inherits many traits from her predecessor ''Minnesota''. Captains familiar with ''Minnesota'' will recognize ''{{#var:ship_name}}’s'' slow speed, long shell reload, and large salvo weight. However, much like the upgrade from ''[[Kansas]]'' to ''[[Minnesota]]'', ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is a considerable upgrade upon her predecessor in the areas of both main battery firepower and armor.

While ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' retains the standard 32mm bow and stern plating and the 38mm midsection plating commonly found on high tier battleships, her deck armor has been upgraded to 51mm. However, unlike the underwater citadel of her predecessors, her citadel protrudes above the water. Thus, captains will observe that as compared to ''Minnesota'', ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is more resistance to HE shells but more vulnerable to large caliber AP shells.


To protect her from incoming torpedos, ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' has a great torpedo belt, capable of reducing damage from torpedoes by 40%.

Patience and target selection are the key to success with ''{{#var:ship_name}}''. A wise captain might hold his fire for a more appealing target rather than always firing off as soon as reloaded. One other common strategy is to fire 2 turrets every 20 seconds rather than 4 every 40 seconds in order to make it more difficult for enemy ships to dodge, and to be prepared for that sudden target of opportunity.

''{{#var:ship_name}}'' can be best described as a ship of extremes. On one hand, she has arguably the most lethal main battery guns at Tier X. On the other hand, she is the slowest tier X battleship by a large margin. Therefore, she favors a central battleship play style. This position gives her the ability to create cross fires with friendly battleships on the flanks. While other battleships may be able to rotate from their initial flank during the mid game, ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is not fast enough to do so; positioning centrally gives her a head start to move to whichever flank she will have more impact in during the late game.


''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is a challenging battleship to play, and inexperienced battleship captains will have difficulties with her due to the fact that positioning mistakes are punished particularly hard. Once caught in a bad position, it is difficult to disengage and will often result in death. She really shines in the hands of an experienced captain who is able to draw out the full potential from her strengths while compensating for her weaknesses.

The Vermont appears to be inspired by the famous Tillman "maximum battleship" design studies prepared 1916-17 by Senator Tillman. Vermont closely resembles something that's a cross between Tillman IV-1 and Tillman I. However she carries fewer guns than either design. Tillman IV-1 carried thirteen 18 inch guns and Tillman I carried twelve 16 inch guns. Her armor scheme, however, is exactly the same as the Tillman IV-1 as is her triple funnel layout which was distinct to IV-1. However, Vermont is actually slower by at least two knots than the designs she's based on, Tillman IV-1 (25.2 knots) Tillman I (26.5 knots).

Vermont — U.S.A. Tech Tree Tier X Battleship.

During World War I, in the midst of the dreadnought arms race, designers were given complete carte blanche. Seven battleship designs were proposed with maximum capabilities and performance. There was only one restriction—the battleships had to be able to pass through the Panama Canal. The initial design was more conservative compared to the others. The battleship carried twelve large-caliber guns placed in four turrets, was reasonably fast, and had very strong armor.
