Tier IV ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is based on British cruiser ''[[Danae]]'' and shares many similarities with her sister ship. Despite mounting the same weapons and consumables, there are some important differences between the two ships, with ''{{#var:ship_name}}'s'' consumables and weapons having slightly different parameters.


Her 540m turning circle is the smallest at Tier IV and a quick 6.4 second rudder shift helps her avoid incoming attacks. However, her 29 knot top speed is slow for a Tier IV cruiser and she can only reliably outpace ''[[Karlsruhe]]'' at her tier. ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' has a good base concealment of 8km without any skills- the lowest of all Tier IV cruisers– which is better than many cruisers even if they are using the <u>Concealment Expert</u> skill. In open waters against other cruisers or battleships, players can expect to spot enemy ships long before they are spotted themselves.

It has an action time of 100 seconds and a cooldown time of 180 seconds. With a maximum range of 12.1km, ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' will find herself outranged by many opponents. When shooting at maximum range, her shells lose velocity and tend to float, which can make accurate aiming difficult against agile targets.

Her light armor and small hit point pool mean that effective use of positioning, concealment and the Repair Party are key to achieving a good result in battle. Players should pick their targets carefully, as an unexpected duel with a battleship can easily result in crippling damage. Without HE rounds it can feel challenging to deal meaningful damage to enemy ships, a situation which is made worse when ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' finds herself fighting against Tier V ships. Her lack of HE and difficulty in damaging angled targets mean that players should focus on using their concealment to reach a flanking position where they can fire into enemy ships’ broadsides.

In 1933, after the purchase of two Novik-class destroyers from Estonia, the superiority of the Peruvian naval forces was overwhelming, so the Colombian government considered several options to urgently strengthen its navy, including purchasing British ships. If the choice had fallen on British ships, the Colombian fleet could have been strengthened with Danae-class cruisers.
