Based on the Solomon Islands chain, this map evokes the naval engagements of the Battle of Guadalcanal and the legacy of Ironbottom Sound. The central channel is frequently patrolled by enemy destroyers, forcing most of the main surface engagements into the northeast and southwest corners.
