The ship was bought by the Ottoman Empire—she was supposed to become part of the Turkish Fleet under the name Sultan Osman I. However, amid the outbreak of World War I, Rio de Janeiro was "leased" by the British government and entered service as HMS Agincourt. In 1916, the ship took part in the Battle of Jutland, where she managed to hit German ships several times.</p><p> </p></div>

===Pros===
{{AA Sidebar Warning Insert}}
* Pro 1
The Tier V battleship ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is a ship with high risk-reward. She is hard to play at range, with her main battery quite drastically falling behind most other same-tier battleships. She performs better in brawls or even jousts, where the glaring inaccuracy of her main battery is not as visible and where her powerful secondary battery can help pump out more damage. The challenge lies in having the situational awareness of knowing when to push into a brawl, otherwise this ship's hit points will disappear in a puff of smoke or, more likely, a huge explosion.
* Pro 2

Her offensive capabilities are definitely not due to her main battery. Although ''Agincourt'' has 14 guns, captains will find that the large number of guns is not even sufficient to help keep the damage coming due to her horrible dispersion. Like Russian battleships, when firing at targets at range (which ''Agincourt'' does not have much of anyway), even the best-aimed of shots can result in a bracket, with all 14 shells falling to the left and right of the target. Those shells which do hit will often result in overpens or shatters. ''Agincourt's'' HE penetration, although better when compared to her counterparts from other nations, is underwhelming for a Royal Navy battleship, with only 76mm of penetration due to her undersized 305mm guns, which are almost peashooters for a battleship of this tier. Her HE alpha damage is anemic: even HE hits that manage to penetrate will deal less damage from those on Tier III IJN ''[[Kawachi]]''. The only good thing about her HE is her fires per minute, although this is due to her heavy broadside more than anything else. Unlike the German battleships, ''Agincourt's'' AP is no saving grace. These shells cannot overmatch cruiser bows or deal with enemy battleship plating unlike those of ''[[Kongo]]'' and ''[[New York]]''. The AP shell penetration is so anemic that the shells cannot even penetrate broadside battleships' torpedo belts at range. Her turret traverse is subpar for this tier, and her reload is atrocious, almost getting the unwanted title of having the worst reload time in her tier. Her reload speed prevents her from being able to return fire quickly at faster threats such as destroyers.
===Cons===
* Con 1
* Con 2

However, if properly spec'ed, ''Agincourt's'' '''secondary battery''' can deal with most of the same-tier destroyers that come close enough to the ship to be able to pose a significant threat. Without any commander skills, her twenty (20) 152mm secondaries fire faster than the average DD at this tier. The high caliber of these guns make them a serious threat to even some Tier VII battleships, as they can penetrate their extremities. Her ten (10) 76mms are unable to directly damage most targets save same-tier destroyers, but those fire faster than even a T10 destroyer with a reload of 2.7 seconds and can pump out enough fires to turn an enemy into firewood and keep their DCP consumable on perpetual cooldown. ''Agincourt's'' secondaries have a maximum range of 8.3km, which is more than respectable for a battleship at this tier. Their stock accuracy is even better than those on German high-tier battleships, being more or less the same on those on even the renowned ''[[Massachusetts]]''. These are the perfect secondaries for any ship, with all of their parameters except their range topping those of pretty much any other ship. Even their DPM is higher than that of ''[[Graf Zeppelin]]'' and almost double of that of ''Massachusetts'', excluding the fire damage the enemy is bound to sustain. This is where captains will find a sizeable chunk of their damage to be coming from. If you are not convinced of this ship's effectiveness because of its secondaries, or if you are not interested in secondary builds, this is not the ship for you.

''Agincourt's'' armor scheme is similar to those of Russian battleships, with more dispersed armor. The armor thickness on the turrets and citadel has been noticeably reduced. In return, ''Agincourt'' gets a 102mm icebreaker bow, a 152mm side plating (which most other battleships even at tier 10 do not have), and a 38mm deck -- enough to prevent light cruisers from farming off her with HE.  Like Russian and German battleships, this ship stands up better to enemy fire in brawls, where it is easier to bounce even the largest of shells off her thick side plating. However, ''Agincourt's'' armor is less effective against incoming fire from longer ranges. Her 19mm bow and stern are the best weak spots for enemies to exploit. Every single battleship in the game, even ''[[Mikasa]]'' and ''[[Scharnhorst]]'', can overmatch her extremities. This problem is further exacerbated by ''Agincourt'' not having anything more than a completely ''un''-angled 76mm athwartship in front of her citadel. Speaking of her citadel, ''Agincourt's'' citadel is visible from space. It extends from before the A turret to behind the Z turret. Any shell that overmatches her bow will, most of the time, fly into her citadel. Shells do not even need to penetrate ''Agincourt''’s bow to citadel her: she has less than 270mm of armor protecting her citadel. Even light cruisers like ''[[Leander]]'' with only 152mm guns can reliably citadel her at close range. If that isn't enough, the main gun turret barbettes have less than 250mm of armor on them. One battleship salvo is enough to knock out the turrets. This is not a ship that captains can bow-tank in and get away with it. Luckily, '''proper angling''' will help mitigate most of the damage by using the side plating to bounce big shells, and is essential to be able to stay afloat for the game. ''Agincourt's'' consumables are typical of a Tier V battleship, except that she cannot mount a spotter plane. This will exacerbate the problem of ''Agincourt's'' lack of range. Her torpedo protection is quite abhorrent, although given the power of her secondary battery, ''Agincourt'' should be able to finish off enemy destroyers before they are able to get close enough to use their torpedoes. Nevertheless, any torpedo that hits the ship will deal a large amount of damage, and more often than not, deal that damage to the citadel, due to ''Agincourt's'' huge citadel.

''Agincourt's'' handling is one of the worst at her tier. Her turning radius is huge and can result in captains accidentally beaching themselves. Her below-average speed does not help. She even turns at the second-slowest speed out of all Tier V BBs, marginally behind ''[[Oklahoma]]''. Captains are advised against attempting to kite away from shells or use WASD hacks on this ship. ''Agincourt'' does not have the agility to make that possible. Luckily, ''Agincourt'' should not need to dodge shells that often, as she has the absolute '''best concealment''' amongst all the battleships she will ever face, with a 10.7km minimum concealment. This will help increase her survivability by preventing enemies from sniping her from 15km away, as these sort of shots are those that fly into her citadel and ignore the dispersed armor scheme. However, her slow speed prevents ''Agincourt'' from being able to control engagements easily, even with the superb concealment.

For those captains who are wondering why there is no information in the sidebar about ''Agincourt's'' antiaircraft firepower, that is because ''Agincourt''’s AA guns are nonexistent. ''Agincourt'' has '''no AAA''' to defend herself from aircraft. From the point of view of the CV player, ''Agincourt'' is an XP/damage farm. All she can do in defense against aerial attacks is attempt to evade rockets, torpedoes and bombs, which is not easy considering her horrendous rudder shift and turning speed. Against aircraft carriers ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' should stay near ships with strong AA firepower such as ''[[Texas]]'' and ''[[Konig]]''. As soon as the CV is spotted and within range, the CV should be the captain's priority target above other ships that are easier to neutralize as the CV will be the biggest source of frustration.

''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is a ship of extremes. Her main battery and maneuverability are horrible, her armor is questionable, and her AA guns do not exist. On the flip side, her secondaries and concealment are pretty much the very best for her tier. Captains should play this ship according to her strengths and keep in mind her weaknesses. Captains must have very good situational awareness during battle so that they can capitalize on opportunities for a combined push. Keep in mind that ''Agincourt'' is not a forgiving ship, and captains that make positioning errors or are not aware of their surroundings will take a quick trip back to port, or have a game with minimal damage done and minimal economic gain.

For more conservative captains that prefer to shoot enemies from flanks and rely more on the main battery, the usual Survivability Build is fine.

However, the damage potential of ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' is higher when heavily specialized in secondaries with an aggressive captain.

The recommended upgrades for ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' are:

* '''Slot 2''': {{Damage Control System Modification 1}}
* '''Slot 3''':  {{Secondary Battery Modification 1}}&nbsp;'''<nowiki>*</nowiki>'''

{{Secondary Battery Modification 1}} is the most effective build for this ship. Generally, playing ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' as a sniper and shooting enemies at the furthest corners of the map is likely going to be neither effective nor possible, making {{Aiming Systems Modification 1}} not as effective as it would be on battleships with better main battery guns.

'''<nowiki>*</nowiki>''' Mastering <u>Inertial Fuse for HE Shells</u> allows the 10x 76mm rifles to deal direct damage to Tier VI and Tier VII destroyer hulls, at the expense of their fire chance.  However, ''Agincourt's'' secondaries unload so quickly and have high enough fire chance that using this skill will reduce the fire-setting capabilities roughly to that of ''[[Massachusetts]]'s'' secondaries (which is still very good), so the mastering of this skill is purely dependent on the captain's preferred mode of damage dealing: fire or direct damage.

Captains should mount flags that help the survivability and secondaries. Any signal that buffs AA is useless.
Useful signals include Mike Yankee Soxisix to further buff the already very potent secondaries, Victor Lima to increase the fire damage caused by the secondaries, Sierra Mike to help make the poor speed of the ship a bit more bearable and India Delta and India Yankee to enhance the survivability of the ship when taking fire. If available, November Foxtrot and Juliet Charlie will also be useful to further help ''Agincourt''’s survivability.

HMS Agincourt was a dreadnought battleship built in the United Kingdom in the early 1910s. Originally part of Brazil's role in a South American naval arms race, she holds the distinction of mounting more heavy guns (fourteen) and more turrets (seven) than any other dreadnought battleship, in keeping with the Brazilians' requirement for an especially impressive design.

Brazil ordered the ship in 1911 as Rio de Janeiro from the British company Armstrong Whitworth. However, the collapse of Brazil's rubber boom and a warming in relations with Argentina, the country's chief rival, led to the ship's sale while under construction to the Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans renamed her Sultan Osman I, after the empire's founder, and the ship was nearly complete when the First World War broke out. The British government seized her for use by the Royal Navy, together with another Ottoman dreadnought being constructed in Britain. This act caused resentment in the Ottoman Empire, as the payments for both ships were complete, and contributed to the decision of the Ottoman government to join the Central Powers.

Renamed Agincourt by the Royal Navy, she joined the Grand Fleet in the North Sea. During the war, the ship spent the bulk of her time on patrols and exercises, although she did participate in the Battle of Jutland in 1916. Agincourt was put into reserve in 1919 and sold for scrap in 1922 to meet the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty.

Agincourt — U.K. Premium Tier V Battleship.

Brazilian dreadnought Rio de Janeiro was laid down in 1911 in Elswick, but Brazil canceled its construction due to the deteriorating economic situation. The ship was bought by the Ottoman Empire—she was supposed to become part of the Turkish Fleet under the name Sultan Osman I. However, amid the outbreak of World War I, Rio de Janeiro was "leased" by the British government and entered service as HMS Agincourt. In 1916, the ship took part in the Battle of Jutland, where she managed to hit German ships several times.
