With the outbreak of World War II, the cruiser was laying minefields in the North Sea; however, during one such operation, she fell prey to a British submarine that torpedoed the ship. After the war, Nürnberg was transferred to the Soviet Union, where she received the name "Admiral Makarov.".</p><p> </p></div>
The ship was developed from the Königsberg-class cruisers. In contrast to her predecessors, she had larger dimensions and featured reinforced turret armor. Moreover, she retained the main battery guns with their high performance characteristics. The cruiser's AA defense comprised numerous anti-aircraft guns.<!-- <br><br>7b648bd59f714d0dadf3687681ffbd29-->

Pros
AA Sidebar Warning Insert
* Pro 1
Touted as a rival to the likes of Budyonny and Dallas at Tier VI, Nürnberg is a linear upgrade from her predecessor, Königsberg.
* Pro 2

Players familiar with Königsberg will adapt to Nürnberg quickly while noting several improvements.  For starters, her guns reload faster, dropping from 7.5 seconds to 6 seconds between salvos.  She is laid out almost identically, though Nürnberg’s stern turrets rests along the ship's centerline as opposed to Königsberg’s offset stern turrets.  She retains the same above-average range — 16.5 km — as well as the torpedo layout of Königsberg, with two triple-tube launchers on each side of the ship.
Cons
* Con 1
* Con 2

Nürnberg’s strengths are many, but so are her weaknesses.  While captains may be used to it by the time they reach Nürnberg, her turret layout is still somewhat awkward and she has barely any armor at all,  except for a small part near her stern where she has around 100mm of armor (which is grossly inadequate) .  Battleships can citadel her with ease at virtually all angles, and enemy heavy cruisers — such as Aoba or Molotov — salivate at the thought of catching a Nürnberg broadside with AP rounds in their barrels.

Her weaknesses aren't limited to just horrible armor. The high explosive rounds, although having 1/4 penetration instead of 1/6 of her 152mm guns, has anemic alpha damage, with each penetrating shot landing less than 700 damage. The easiest way to counter the Nürnberg is simply to bow-tank; she'll land hardly any damage against angled targets. Ships with good back gun firing angles such as the Dallas or the Pensacola will rip her apart with a hail of HE. It is only when firing AP upon broadside targets that she can actively contribute to the team, otherwise she will be a focus-fire magnet. Hiding behind islands and using AP or her torpedoes is an effective way to play Nürnberg. Playing her well requires careful positioning and extremely good situational awareness; Nürnberg is not a ship that one can put into a risky situation and live to fight another day.  She'll reward cautious play, but will fold quickly under concentrated enemy fire.

History
Design
<!-- Add the ship code here to populate the upgrade table -->
Nürnberg was a German light cruiser of the Leipzig class built for the Kriegsmarine. She was named after the city of Nuremberg and had one sister ship, Leipzig. Nürnberg was laid down in 1934, launched in December of that year, and completed in November 1935. She was armed with a main battery of nine (9) 15 cm (5.9-inch) guns in three triple turrets and could steam at a speed of 32 knots (59 km/h; 37 mph). Nürnberg was the longest-serving major warship of the Kriegsmarine, and the only one to see active service after the end of World War II, though not in a German navy.

Service
In the late 1930s, Nürnberg took part in the non-intervention patrols during the Spanish Civil War without major incident. After the outbreak of World War II in September 1939, she was used to lay defensive minefields off the German coast.  She was thereafter used to escort offensive mine-layers in the North Sea until she was torpedoed by a British submarine in December 1939.  Once repaired, she was utilized as a training ship in the Baltic Sea for most of the rest of the war, apart from a short deployment to Norway from November 1942 to April 1943. In January 1945, she was assigned to mine-laying duties in the Skaggerak, but severe shortages of fuel permitted only one such operation.

After the end of the war, Nürnberg was seized by the Royal Navy and ultimately awarded to the Soviet Union as war reparations. In December 1945 a Soviet crew took over the ship, and the following month took her to Tallinn, Estonia where she was renamed Admiral Makarov. She served in the Soviet Navy for a number of years, serving as the flagship of 8th Fleet until 1955, then transitioning to Kronstadt as a training cruiser. She was decommissioned in February 1959 and broken up for scrap the following year.

Nürnberg — Germany Tech Tree Tier VI Cruiser.

Nürnberg differed from her predecessors by having more advanced superstructures and certain changes to her armor. With the outbreak of World War II, the cruiser was laying minefields in the North Sea; however, during one such operation, she fell prey to a British submarine that torpedoed the ship. After the war, Nürnberg was transferred to the Soviet Union, where she received the name "Admiral Makarov.".
