Premium Tier&nbsp;VIII Battleship.</p><p>While designing the Project 82 heavy cruiser, the Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry of the U.S.S.R. ordered drafts of a "small battleship"—a ship equipped with 1–2 turrets housing main- and medium-caliber guns and enhanced bow armor. In 1951–1952, nine preliminary draft projects were prepared. One of the projects was armed with two triple-gun turrets with 406 mm guns and was recommended for further development. After Stalin's death, the construction of heavy artillery ships was no longer relevant, and the project wasn't completed.</p><p> </p></div>

Pros
AA Sidebar Warning Insert
* Pro 1
* Pro 2

is a U.S.S.R battleship at Tier VIII. She is armed with six 406 mm rifles housed in two forward-facing mounts. has two rear-facing secondary battery turrets to protect her stern, each sporting two 180 mm rifles.
Cons
* Con 1
* Con 2

To have the best chance of success in battle with , her playstyle can be simplified to one word: positioning. is a large ship, making her an easy target if aggressive maneuvers place her in a compromised position, such as being broadside in a turn or too close to a superior enemy force. Ideal positioning will allow for enemy ships to be within range of the main battery armament while also providing cover to the side(s) of the ship. A good position will also allow for retreat if the enemy is overwhelming . By breaking off the engagement, she can recover hit points without being exposed to further incoming fire. If there is no effective cover, players should point the bow of the ship toward the enemy. has an armored bow. When slightly angled or facing the enemy, there is a much higher likelihood that armor-piercing (AP) shells will ricochet, rather than penetrate and cause damage to . This maneuver is sometimes referred to as bow-tanking. However, it is important to note that is more vulnerable in certain parts of the ship than other Tier VIII U.S.S.R battleships, such as Lenin and Vladivostok, due to variations in armor thickness.  does have better deck armor, which serves to protect against incoming long-range fire. also has access to the standard Damage Control Party consumable, unlike most other U.S.S.R battleships, increasing her longevity in battle. If is being targeted by cruisers firing high-explosive (HE) or semi-armor-piercing (SAP) shells, players should attempt to destroy the enemy ships quickly because these shell types are more likely to cause damage, and HE shells may light fires. is equipped with Surveillance Radar, allowing players to see whether a destroyer may be lurking nearby. This is useful for ensuring that no enemy ships are able to compromise an effective firing position and flush out of it with torpedoes.

is most effective at medium range. Players should use her speed to quickly get to an island to protect her sides from enemy fire. With no access to the Spotting Aircraft consumable, her main battery gun range is limited. Players should be careful to keep their distance from the enemy due to a very underwhelming secondary battery.   is only armed with two twin barreled secondary turrets located at the aft end of the ship.  is also equipped with Surveillance Radar that has decent range and duration. Her radar is best utilized with support from teammates because her main battery reload time will not allow for two salvoes while the radar is active unless her radar duration is extended with the use of upgrades or commander skills.

has a decent top speed, but her maneuverability is severely underwhelming. With a wide turning radius and slow rudder shift time, players will need to be cautious while maneuvering to minimize the amount of time the sides of the ship are exposed. is at a further disadvantage while broadside because her citadel is exposed and above the waterline, making her easy prey for battleships.
<div style="border: 2px solid rgba(212,175,55,0.8); border-radius: 3px; margin-bottom: 1em; overflow: hidden;">
{| class="wikitable" style="margin:0; color:inherit; width:100%"
is a large ship with an impressive main armament. The key to her success is effective positioning to prevent her from being an easy target while also making use of her guns. Players should also try to stay near friendly ships to utilize their support and may choose to play in a division to increase her effectiveness in battle.

World of Warships is based on Design III-III-3 by TsNII-45, a variant of a proposed “small battleship” project in the early 1950s.

During the development of the Project 24 battleship in the 1950s, the design work was handed over to TsNII-45, the Shipbuilding Ministry's warship research institute. This was to allow the previous design bureau, TsKB-16, to work on the Project 82 battlecruiser, a personal favorite project of Joseph Stalin. However, Stalin became displeased with the slow pace of the work and the increasing size of Project 24. On April 18, 1950, a revised TTZ (operational-tactical requirements) was approved for the battleship, which reduced the size to that of a “medium” battleship. The Ministry of Shipbuilding sent a copy of the TTZ to TsNII-45 for analysis. TsNII-45 criticized the design, stating it was one suitable for a World War II battleship, but not taking into account recent developments.

As a result, TsNII-45 put forth a counterproposal for “small battleships”. The idea was that two or three small battleships could fulfill the same role as one large battleship or several large cruisers. Aiding them in their role was the recent developments in radio communications and radar, allowing for effective “brigade firing” against a single target. Wargames showed that an enemy ship would suffer heavy damage before one of the small battleships did so itself.

In April 1951, a meeting of naval constructors was held by the Ministry of Shipbuilding to further examine the small battleship concept. The group proposed a 457 mm main battery, with a 180 mm or 220 mm secondary battery, which would fire high-explosive shells at long ranges, disabling enemy fire control or radar as the small battleships approached a target. The group also proposed a reduced number of main battery guns, to allow protection from up to 406 mm guns as well as a displacement similar to Project 82. Finally, it was believed that enough small battleships could be built to allow for two or three for each theater of operations. The Ministry of Shipbuilding approved the concept, and TsNII-45 sketched nine variants of the small battleship project by the end of 1951. These designs were armed with 406 mm guns, as 457 mm guns were unavailable. The main battery was concentrated on the bow, to save weight. Accordingly, most of the armor was concentrated on the forward transverse bulkheads and turret faces, with the side belt armor reduced, as the ships would be fighting bow-on. In addition, most of the variants further saved weight by a reduced amount of heavy anti-aircraft weapons – only close-ranged AA guns would be mounted on the battleships. The belief was that the heavy AA would be more effective if mounted on the escorting warships.

The Ministry of Shipbuilding favored these designs over the revised TTZ for Project 24, however the Ministry of the Navy strongly criticized them. It was ordered for both the Ministry and the Navy to jointly study both concepts. No meetings to discuss the matter took place, however, and with Stalin’s death in March of 1953, all work on both the small battleship concept and Project 24 ceased.

Historical Accuracy Errata:
* is actually the name of a Borodino-class battleship that was in service with the Imperial Russian Navy from 1904 to 1905. The only warship to inherit the name was a Borodino-class battlecruiser (aka Izmail), also of the Imperial Russian Navy, which began construction in 1912 but was canceled after the revolution with the ship 57% complete. Neither ship exists in World of Warships.
* No warship in the Soviet Navy was ever named Borodino.
* Design III-III-3 had a quadruple 180 mm secondary in the stern. In the game, instead has two dual 180 mm guns, the same guns mounted on Alexander Nevsky.

Borodino — U.S.S.R. Premium Tier VIII Battleship.

While designing the Project 82 heavy cruiser, the Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry of the U.S.S.R. ordered drafts of a "small battleship"—a ship equipped with 1–2 turrets housing main- and medium-caliber guns and enhanced bow armor. In 1951–1952, nine preliminary draft projects were prepared. One of the projects was armed with two triple-gun turrets with 406 mm guns and was recommended for further development. After Stalin's death, the construction of heavy artillery ships was no longer relevant, and the project wasn't completed.
