Update 15.2: "Sabaton in World of Warships"

Sabaton in World of Warships

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with festive rewards, a myth-steeped event, and gifts!

Operations Return: Arctic Convoy, Tokyo Express, and Pacific Offensive

  • The list of permanently available Operations has been expanded with three scenarios that you may remember from last year’s “In the Name of Tomorrow” event. These Operations—Arctic Convoy, Tokyo Express, and Pacific Offensive—are inspired by historical naval actions from different periods of World War II. As such, they are now subject to the standard rules and restrictions for Operations, and the following changes have been made:
  • Tier VI–X ships and superships can participate.
  • No national restrictions.
  • The team can have one submarine.
  • Each Operation has undergone balance changes.
  • Changes include adjustments to several secondary tasks, aimed to make completing them a bit less challenging.
  • Divisions of up to 7 players are allowed.

Battle of Cape Matapan Event Pass

Starts: Mar 12, 03:00 AM CEST (UTC+2)
Ends: Apr 8, 04:00 AM CEST (UTC+2)

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Cape Matapan, in which British and Italian fleets fought for supremacy in the Mediterranean Sea. The British fleet emerged victorious thanks to its effective intelligence gathering, which allowed it to learn the enemy’s plans in advance, as well as its aerial superiority.

This update's Event Pass is dedicated to this decisive battle and is appropriately filled with content for fans of both the British and Italian fleets. Among the latter, you'll find brand-new tier VII Premium cruiser Fiume—one of the unlucky trio of Italian heavy cruisers caught and sunk at point-blank range during the night phase of the battle.

The first progression line is painted in the colors of the British flag, containing the Union Jack permanent camouflage and the Force of Liberation permanent camouflage for the British tier VII destroyer [Jervis]]. It also contains a “Resolute and Rapid” container and, as the final reward, you can get the new “Ember Core” glowing permanent camouflage for Tier VII ships.

If you're eager to claim Italian rewards as well (including a new ship!) unlock the second progression line for 3,000 Doubloons. After that, you can complete levels of both lines either via combat missions or for 1,000 Doubloons each. As a bonus reward for the unlock, you will immediately receive the Blue Explosion enemy destruction effect. Progress further to earn 2x Regia Marina permanent camouflages, Premium cruiser Fiume, Italian Commander Domenico Folgore with 10 skill points and the Legion permanent camouflage for Vittorio Veneto(the final reward).

Compensations

Compensation will be awarded to you if you already own the following items:

  • 4,500,000 Credits for the Force of Liberation permanent camouflage for Jervis.
  • 6,750,000 Credits for the Legion permanent camouflage for Vittorio Veneto.

Updates to Aircraft Carrier Mechanics

We continue improving aircraft carriers and related mechanics to address existing issues. Building off the experience of Updates 14.7 and 15.0, where we introduced several smaller adjustments that each improved gameplay on their own, we've adopted an approach of continuous fine-tuning of the mechanics. This way, we aim to gradually address the existing issues while the development of core changes continues. Update 15.2 brings another set of such changes:

Patrol Fighter Changes

n Update 15.0, Fighters lost the ability to spot enemy ships and expanded their capabilities as a defensive tool. While it is a meaningful change in its own right, it is also an opportunity to refine the role of carriers’ Patrol Fighters in battle. Now, while controlling an aircraft squadron equipped with this consumable, you can send Patrol Fighters to a manually selected area on the map. This means you can provide support to your allies—or defend your own ship—without distraction from the fight. Along with expanding the tactical arsenal of carrier Commanders, this change also adds a new level of gameplay when your squadron is in transit from the carrier to its target.

  • While controlling an aircraft squadron equipped with Patrol Fighters, you can activate the consumable and select an area where you want to send them via the Tactical Map.
  • The distance at which you can deploy Patrol Fighters is limited and is measured from your squadron’s current position. Patrol Fighters need some time to reach the selected area, and the farther it is from your aircraft, the longer it will take them to get there.
  • Once they reach the area, they start patrolling it with the same behavior as old Fighters.

Evasive Maneuvers Consumable

All aircraft squadrons currently equipped with the Repair consumable have had it replaced with a new consumable, Evasive Maneuvers, aimed to make interactions between these aircraft and surface ships clearer and more consistent.

  • The Repair consumable allowed aircraft to partially restore lost HP, but for a surface ship under attack, there was no clear indication when the consumable was active. This may have created the impression that AA defense was not being effective. The Evasive Maneuvers consumable keeps aircraft survivability roughly the same as the Repair consumable did while improving this interaction by clearly being reflected in both the UI of AA defenses and in the squadron’s formation change.
  • While the Evasive Maneuvers consumable is active, aircraft avoid a significant portion of AA damage and damage from Fighters. It can help you press an attack even if your squadron is short on planes. Be advised that since this consumable doesn't restore lost HP, it cannot be used retroactively, meaning that when using Evasive Maneuvers, you should carefully choose the right moment to make the most of it.
  • Most aircraft will be able to avoid 70% of incoming damage while the consumable is active. The only exception is Hildebrand, which has 60% damage reduction for her aircraft.

Manually Controlled Carrier Consumables

Both Damage Control Party and the ship-based Fighters consumables on aircraft carriers can now be used in either automatic or manual mode, and you can switch between them during battle while in control of your aircraft carrier. This is a follow-up to last year’s introduction of manually controlled secondaries, giving experienced carrier Captains more tactical options and greater control over their ships.

Free Commander Skills Reset

Starts: Mar 12, 03:00 AM CEST (UTC+2)
Ends: Mar 19, 03:00 AM CEST (UTC+2)

During the first week of Update 15.2 it was possible to have a 100% discount on resetting the Commanders' skills. This gave an opportunity to adjust Commanders according to preference in light of the Aircraft Carriers' changes.

Lunar New Year Festivities Continue

Ends: Apr 8, 04:00 AM CEST (UTC+2)

Keep up the fight between chaos and order by completing combat missions, earning Lunar Tokens, and enjoying colorful rewards!

The battle between the forces of chaos and order continues on our virtual seas in the Nian Paradox event, dedicated to the celebration of the Lunar New Year. You can continue completing combat missions, with a new set added each week during the first 3 weeks of the update. During the last week of the update, you'll still be able to complete previously available missions.

European Battleships Leave Early Access

The branch of seven battleships is now available to research and unlock for all Captains!

With the release of Update 15.2, European battleships Yavuz, Tegetthoff, Laudon, Chios, Enigheten, Gustav den Store, and Thor leave Early Access. These newcomers are available for everyone to research in the European Tech Tree.

These ships represent smaller naval powers and come with plenty of tools to support their team while staying away from the front line.

  • All ships of the line are armed with torpedoes that boast long range and high damage for their respective tiers.
  • They have good concealment for battleships and from Tier V, they are equipped with a time-based Emergency Engine Power consumable that will help them swiftly reposition when the combat situation requires it.
  • The main guns of these battleships have relatively small calibers, meaning they should primarily be used against lightly armored targets. That said, Thor stands out in terms of her main battery performance thanks to its impressive ballistics.
  • They are the first Tech Tree battleships equipped with the Surveillance Radar consumable, which is available from Tier VIII.
  • They are strongly armored but have very small HP pools.

Okinawa Rebalance

The Okinawa map has received a number of changes to refine its balance and make gameplay more engaging. Some islands have been moved to create a more balanced layout for both teams, while others have been removed to open up more maneuvering space near the spawn points. The spawn points themselves are now nearer to the centerline of the map, ensuring a faster start to the action
