Trouble in the hot tub
Trouble in the Hot Tub was a limited-time April Fools' Day event in World of Warships, introduced in Update 12.2 (March 2023). The event replaces traditional warships with six Tier X rubber duck "ships" that battle in a specially themed Hot Tub map using unique rubber physics, Splashy Mines, and bubble-based weaponry.

Full event description
80 years of bathtub naval tradition culminate in Trouble in the Hot Tub — World of Warships' April Fools' Day spectacular. Introduced in its fully updated 2023 form during Update 12.2, the event features six Tier X rubber duck "ships" two destroyers, two cruisers, and two battleships fighting in a specially themed Hot Tub map filled with animated bath props, clear water, and rubber-duck-scale obstacles.
Players command their ducks in fast-paced 7 vs. 7 Domination Mode battles, capturing control areas to earn points and secure victory. Unlike standard modes, the Hot Tub features completely unique physics: rubber ducks are immune to ramming damage and bounce off each other and static objects, gaining a speed boost in the process.
Every duck is equipped with a brand-new weapon type Splashy Mines in addition to class-specific bubble guns and fizzy torpedoes. All ducks also have special equipment: a Sticky Bandage for healing, an Airpump for restoring buoyancy, and Engine Whoosh for a burst of speed.
The event was available throughout Update 12.2, which launched on Wed. Mar. 22, 2023 and ran until the start of Update 12.3 (approximately Wed. Apr. 19, 2023). Alongside the event, Wargaming partnered with Placid Plastic Duck Simulator for a collaborative DLC bundle on Steam, available from March 23 through April 14, 2023.
All six ducks were led by special duck Commanders with animated portraits. Three starter ducks were given to all players immediately, while the remaining three were unlocked by earning 20,000 Base XP with each corresponding starter duck type.

Key gameplay notes
- Cruiser and battleship ducks have citadels, just like real warships
- HE bubbles can only cause flooding.
- AP bubbles can cause flooding
- You cannot destroy a gun mounted on a duck's head or a torpedo launcher
- Ramming damage does not apply in the hot tub.
Weapons and armament
Each duck class has a different primary weapon type, plus all ducks share access to Splashy Mines.
| Weapon Type | Description | Available To |
|---|---|---|
| HE Bubbles | High-explosive water bubbles. Standard primary for destroyers and cruisers. Can cause one fire at a time per target. | Destroyers, Cruisers |
| AP Bubbles | Armor-piercing bubbles. Primary weapon for battleships. Can cause flooding on hit. Can score citadel hits on cruiser and battleship ducks. | Battleships. |
| Fizzy Torpedoes | Water-based torpedo equivalents. Long-range, fast-moving. Can be dodged with Engine Whoosh. | Destroyers |
| Splashy Mines | New weapon type unique to this event. Laid like depth charges but float on the water surface. Explode after a set time or upon contact with an enemy duck. Can cause flooding. | All 6 ducks. |
Special rubber collision physics
Since the "ships" are rubber ducks, Wargaming implemented entirely custom collision physics for this mode:
- No ramming damage: Ducks are resilient rubber. Colliding with another duck or a static map object deals zero damage to either party.
- Bounce mechanic: When two ducks collide or a duck hits a static object both bounce away from each other in a physics-based rubber bounce.
- Speed boost on bounce: After bouncing, the duck gains a brief speed boost, similar to a mini Engine Whoosh. This can be used tactically for escape or repositioning.
- Indestructible armament: Guns and torpedo launchers mounted on a duck cannot be incapacitated or destroyed.
- Citadels still exist: Despite the rubber physics, cruiser and battleship ducks retain citadels that can be penetrated by AP bubbles for massive damage.
Special equipment
All ducks have special equipment unique to the Trouble in the Hot Tub mode. These replace standard warship consumables with duck-themed equivalents.
Sticky Bandage

Sticky Bandage is the buoyancy and damage control consumable for rubber ducks. When activated, restore its buoyancy and structural integrity, extinguishing fires, stopping flooding, and keeping the duck afloat when it has taken heavy damage. Think of it as a rubber duck's version of Damage Control Party..
| Type | Healing / HP restoration |
| Effect | Partially restores the duck's HP over time |
| Available to | All 6 ducks |
| Equivalent | Damage Control Party (standard warship consumable) |
Airpump

Airpumpis the healing consumable for rubber ducks. When activated, it partially restores the duck's HP. Functions similarly to the standard Repair Party consumable found on regular warships..
| Type | Damage control / buoyancy restoration |
| Effect | Restores buoyancy, stops flooding and fires |
| Available to | All 6 ducks |
| Equivalent | Repair Party (standard warship consumable). |
Engine Whoosh

Engine Whoosh is the speed boost consumable for rubber ducks. When activated, it increases the duck's maximum speed and determination, providing a burst of propulsion through the bathwater. The duration and effect vary by duck class: destroyers receive a full standard Engine Boost, while cruisers and battleships get only a 0.5-second dash short, but still effective for dodging incoming fizzy torpedoes.
| Type | Speed boost |
| Effect | Increases the duck's maximum speed |
| Available to | All 6 ducks |
| Duration | Destroyers: Full standard Engine Boost. Cruisers & Battleships: 0.5-second dash only |
| Equivalent | Engine Boost (standard warship consumable) |
