Space Battle: Intergalactic Games (2019)

The Intergalactic games was an April Fools event released in 2019. The game mode built on the 2018 variant by adding an increased number of ships as well as four unique game modes: Rings of Saturn, Binary Star, Space Assault and Torpedo Beat.

Story

Once every 200 years, the planets Navis, Ludus and Risus align. In celebration of this rare occasion, the supreme council of the star system Iokus arrange and invite members of various galaxies  to participate in a celebratory competition: the Intergalactic Games. Besides gaining fame, the victors of the Intergalactic Games win mountains of the precious resource: Ironium.

Game modes

Rings of Saturn

Two teams with 12 ships in each will fight to take control of three zones arranged in a similar way to Epicenter mode. However, there is a difference: in the Rings of Saturn, each of the zones is captured independently. For example, an enemy can't prevent your team from capturing the intermediate ring while being in the center. The number of points awarded for capturing and holding zones has been changed as well.

Both teams start with 450 points. You can win by destroying all enemy ships, gaining 1,000 points, or reducing the number of the enemy team's points to 0.

Binary Star

The teams' control points are located on the side where enemy ships spawn. At the beginning of a battle, the control points are enormous in size, and are initially inactive. Starting from the 5th minute, the control points can be captured, and their size would begin to gradually decrease until the 11th minute of the battle.

Capture lasts 120 seconds and holding the control points brings 15 points every 5 seconds. Teams start with 400 points and can win by destroying all enemy ships, gaining 1,000 points, or bringing the number of the enemy team's points to 0.

In order to protect the control point, the player has to face the enemy, but simultaneously also must remember to contest the enemy’s control point. Team sizes were standard—12 vs. 12.

Space Assault

Teams of 9 ships take the role of either attackers or defenders. Both followed this set of rules:

• The task of the attackers is to destroy the station in the allotted time.
• The initial station assault time is 10.5 minutes on the Ludus map and 11 minutes on the Risus map.
• The station is invulnerable until all generators have been destroyed.
• Each generator destroyed extends the assault time by 2 minutes.
• The task of the defending team is to prevent the destruction of the station during the assault.
• Attacking ships reappear in their spawn zone 30 seconds after being destroyed.
• Defending ships have 120 HP restored per second, and their main battery guns and torpedo tubes reload faster by 4%.
• Destruction of a force field generator adds 2 minutes to the attacking team’s available time for task completion.
• It also results in defenders having another 60 HP recovered per second, with the main battery guns and torpedo tubes reloading speed accelerated by another 3%.
• The loss of an ally gives the defenders the same bonuses as the loss of the generator.
• The generators can be destroyed with main battery guns from a distance of 10 km or less, or with torpedoes from any distance.
• The generators constantly restore 75 HP per second and are visible from a distance of 10 km.

Torpedo Beat

In Torpedo Beat, rules akin to the ones seen in the Rings of Saturn mode are applicable, albeit with some variations: the time required to capture the center and each of the rings is 20 seconds, while the reward for holding each control point is 10 points per every 10 seconds. Points for the mere fact of capturing a ring were not awarded, unlike in the Rings of Saturn mode.

• Two teams of five destroyers each take part in the battle.
• Commanders need to master new methods of evading torpedoes that are not applicable on Earth.
• The maximum speed of the ships is increased to 90–110 knots, and their maneuverability improved, while their acceleration and slowdown time were reduced.
• The main weapons were torpedoes with significantly boosted speed and a reduced reloading time of 15–25 seconds.
• The main battery guns are controlled by artificial intelligence and function as secondary armament. They've become much more accurate.
• Ships spawn with 1 charge of the Repair Party consumable. For the destruction of each enemy ship or for the loss of each allied ship, the player receives 1 additional charge of the Repair Party consumable.

Destroyers

Blue Aster

Blue Aster is a good choice if you need to disintegrate another disintegrator, to avoid your disintegrator being disintegrated. Her sensors are sensitive to any oscillations in space and a salvo of eight excellent Chrysalis-type rockets will help you dispatch your foes promptly. Her prototype is German destroyer Z-52.

Flyfire

Would you like to command a spacecraft that’s hard to spot unless you want her to be spotted? Then FlyFire is the perfect choice for you. Among her notable advantages are her elegant design, excellent rocket armament, and awesome concealment gear. American destroyer Gearing served as the prototype for this beautiful ship.

Cruisers

Zaya

Floating like a butterfly formed of stars, as beautiful as the supernovae of a thousand suns, as menacing as a Talurian vacuum serpent—that's what you need to know about the elegant Zaya-class spaceship. This beauty is based on Japanese cruiser Zao.

Helming Zaya is commander 11010111101001.

Galaxy

Galaxy will suit those who take pleasure from finding that which is carefully hidden, and surprising their enemies with her quantum-cumulative shells. Her black hole neutrino armament will also come in handy in any other combat situations. This ship is based on American cruiser Des Moines.

Helming Galaxy is commander Hzrzngh (The Great).

Norma

A concealment gear with crystals from the planet Khetta, special turbolaser shells with a unique reloading system, and good ion rockets that obliterate all matter in their way. Frigate Norma is based on British cruiser Minotaur.

Helming Norma is commander Dart Norman.

Aurora

"Phantoms shall not pass" was the main motto of the engineers who designed the powerful and majestic cruiser Aurora. Remember these well-spoken words when you command this invincible titan. She originates from the no-less-majestic Soviet cruiser Moskva.

Helming Aurora is commander Red Freedom.

Century Hawk

The legendary Century Hawk. The cruiser's hull is made of the strongest and lightest alloys of Sarcasium and Ironium, effectively protecting the ship's crew from any threat. Her shells are enriched with Lolinite, and are capable of striking down any enemy. The ship's contours make it clear that her ancestor is cruiser Hindenburg.

Battleships

Paris

Want armor and speed combined? Try Paris, with her smooth form and shameless, quick-firing guns! And don't forget about the unique ion thrusters designed specifically for this ship type. With their helm at your command, you'll reach any star in the blink of an eye. Her original model is République, a French battleship.

Helming Paris is commander Golden Konung.

Alldestroyer

One of the gems of the spaceship building industry — Alldestroyer. She is excellent in all aspects—armor, number of guns, and small laser turrets. The designers used the model of German battleship Großer Kurfürst to create this spaceship.

Helming Alldestroyer is commander Pete Earthling.

Destroyers+ (Torpedo Beat exclusive)

Comet Trace

A ship of the third generation of the Calmbook class, she outperforms her predecessors with her top-notch maneuverability, as well as with her enhanced rocket and blaster armament. The ship stands out for having the fastest-reloading torpedo tubes, most powerful engine, and most ferocious guns. Comet Trace is ideal for close encounters, with the Engine Boost consumable helping her to get into the enemy's proximity even faster. This destroyer's prototype is Gearing.

Celestial

A defending defender designed to defend defenders. Commander LilFish OG's favorite, yet not only ship. The main feature of the destroyer is her Hydroacoustic Search consumable, enabling you and your allies to spot enemy torpedoes from a great distance. At the same time, Celestial's torpedoes have the smallest detection range. This combination will give you confidence when fighting at medium ranges and also provides a chance to choose the best moment to launch your attack. The original version is destroyer Z-52.

Rover

The very first destroyer starship, developed jointly by the Green and Red Alliances. Designed exclusively to keep up with the relentless rhythm of the Torpedo Beat, this ship is capable of unleashing pure molten-metal mayhem in the galaxy all by itself. Rover packs the fastest torpedoes, with immense damage and range. These torpedoes are the most conspicuous, but one salvo includes as many as 15 torpedoes. Due to the low traverse speed of her torpedo tubes, this destroyer should stay out of close-range combat. Skillful use of the Smoke Generator consumable can make the spaceship quite stealthy. Japanese destroyer Shimakaze served as the prototype for this beauty.

Maps

For the Intergalactic games, three new maps were added, and one brought back from the 2018 Space Battle event.

For players who played the 2018 variant of Space Battles, Appulse was a familiar sight. For the intergalactic games, this map based on the map Hotspot returned. (Known as “Medium Range Galaxy” in the previous event).

Ludus is a planet with a dense atmosphere and levitating stone fragments. The arrangement of its islands resembling the Tears of the Desert map.

Islands on Navis are covered with frozen lava rings, some of which vividly contrast with the cold color scheme of the map. While creating the map, our star architects were inspired by the Warrior's Path map.

Risus, which resembles the Estuary map, is distinguished by the Ironium crystals rising from its otherworldly ocean.

During the event, the Rings of Saturn and Binary Star game modes would take place on Ludus and Navis, while Space Assault would take place on Ludus and Risus. Appulse was only available in the Torpedo Beat mode.

Rewards and achievements

Along with the event, 12 new achievements were added that players could acquire. With the event's conclusion, these achievements can no longer be obtained.

Players could complete combat missions that rewarded a new resource: Ironium. The Ironium could be used to purchase various items in the armory, like unique upgrades and space commanders seen in the event. The full list of rewards purchasable with Ironium can be found below.
