Ship:Operation Pacific Offensive

The editor has numbered the islands on the map. "1", "2" and "3" indicate which islands can be randomly selected as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd islands to be captured - Captains must be attentive and react accordingly!
Summary
Pacific Offensive is a PVE Scenario where a task force consisting of 7 player ships and 1 NPC ship: A San Diego (Codenamed Eagle), must conduct a raid to neutralize and recapture enemy-occupied Pacific Islands. Players will face off against enemy fleets as well as land installations (armed forts). The operation is available for ships of Tier VI-X, as well as Superships.
Pacific Offensive features randomized, dynamic objectives, a feature now present in most operations in the Scenario mode since 15.1. The operation was originally introduced as part of the World War II-themed In the Name of Tomorrow event. Alongside the primary objective (which updates as the operation plays out), secondary objectives are randomly selected from a pool of options.
Task Overview
Tasks
| Task Priority | Details | Requirement | Pins Earned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary | “Neutralize the enemy Coastal Battery on the 1st / 2nd/ 3rd Island[s].” | Note this is a Dynamic Primary Objective (It updates from the 1st, to the 2nd, and then the 3rd island - A fort on each island must be suppressed by players, who will then be told to wait for San Diego to approach the island before this objective advances. | N/A |
| Primary | "Capture the Key Area" | Also a Dynamic Objective - Once "Eagle" approaches the island, it must be captured by allied ships (Like a capture point) before this objective updates for players to suppress the fort on the next island. | N/A |
| Primary | "Capture the Key Area or eliminate all enemy forces" | At the 3rd, final island, a large wave of enemy ships will spawn, and the primary objective will update to this. To clear the operation, players must either capture the key area under enemy threat, or sink all enemy ships. | N/A |
| Primary | Do not allow San Diego to be destroyed | The operation fails if "Eagle" is sunk by enemy forces at any point during the operation. | N/A |
| Secondary | “At least 1 allied ship must stay within 6km of San Diego until 2 islands are secured” | At least one of the players on the team must stay close to "Eagle" during the first half of the operation, as opposed to heading off to "farm" enemies... | |
| Secondary | “San Diego's HP must remain above the threshold (%):” | Ensure "Eagle" is not ever damaged beyond a certain extent, typically 25% HP remaining. | |
| Secondary | “Destroy enemy warships:” | Sink a specified number of enemy warships (Number indicated with a counter, e.g. 0/10) | |
| Secondary | “Ensure enemy destroyers keep distance from San Diego (km):” | Sink enemy destroyers before they get within a specified distance of "Eagle", typically 2.0 kilometres | |
| Secondary | “Destroy the island's coastal battery before time runs out:” | Another Dynamic Objective - when active, updates with each island captured. A player must suppress the fort on the listed island before a given time limit (typically 3.00 minutes) | |
| Secondary | “Reach each of the 3 islands before San Diego” | Another Dynamic Objective - when active, updates with each island captured. A player must reach the specified island before "Eagle" does. |
Walkthrough
Operation
Upon spawning, players will find themselves in the southwestern corner of the map alongside a group of allied ships and the NPC Operation Commander, San Diego, codenamed Eagle. One of 4 potential "First Islands" will be marked as a target on the minimap - The allied task force is given its first objective: “Neutralize the enemy Coastal Battery on the 1st Island".
First Island
Tiers VI and VII will face enemy groups consisting of the following: Katori, Kuma, Wakatake, Isokaze, Iwaki Alpha,Yubari and Kawachi
Tier VIII and higher will face enemy groups consisting of the following: Furutaka, Minekaze, Mutsuki, Kongo, Shinonome, Shiratsuyu and Fubuki
Tier IX up to superships may face enemy groups consisting of the following: Shiratsuyu, Yudachi, Akizuki, Kagero, Myoko, Mogami and Nagato
Enemy destroyers and cruisers appear, and a fort has been built on the first island by the enemy! Its coastal batteries will fire on players approaching it. The allied task force must suppress this fort and also sink the enemy surface threats. Once the fort is neutralized, the primary objective will update, asking players to first wait for San Diego to approach the island, then to "Capture the Key Area" - Additional surface threats including battleships may also show up.
Second Island
Tiers VI and VII will face enemy groups consisting of the following: Minekaze, Furutaka, Agano, Yahagi, Shinonome, Ishizuchi, Myogi, Kongo as well as ships similar to those in Wave 1
Tier VIII and higher will face enemy groups consisting of the following: Fuso, Myoko, Aoba, Maya, Kagero, Mutsu, Yudachi, Nagato as well as ships similar to those in Wave 1
Tier IX to superships may face enemy groups consisting of the following: Asashio, Yugumo, Hayate, Atago, Takahashi, Shimanto, Azuma, Yumihari and Adatara as well as ships similar to those in Wave 1
Once the first island is secured, a second island (One of 3 potential options) is highlighted on the minimap. The allied task force will be directed to “Neutralize the enemy Coastal Battery on the 2nd Island" - Again, there will be enemy surface opposition: Destroyers, cruisers, and enemy battleships approach the island as well. Once this next fort is neutralized, the primary objective will update: Players once again wait for San Diego to approach the island, then "Capture the Key Area" - Additional surface threats continue to appear.
Third Wave
Tiers VI and VII will face enemy groups consisting of the following: A large number of ships from the previous waves, alongside Hatsuharu and a Nagato
Tier VIII and higher will face enemy groups consisting of the following: All ships faced in the second wave, as well as Omono, Gokase, Hatsuharu, Akizuki, Asashio and a powerful Musashi
For Tier IX to Superships, large numbers of high tier enemies spawn, including Shimakaze, Harugumo, Amagi and a powerful Yamato, as well as all ships faced in the second wave.
Two down, one to go. The allied task force will be directed to “Neutralize the enemy Coastal Battery on the 3rd Island" - A third fort is suppressed, and players once again wait for San Diego to approach to "Capture the Key Area or eliminate all enemy forces" - The enemy is not giving up their control over the archipelago without a fight!
A large wave of enemy warships appears from all directions, converging on their final stronghold. To achieve victory, players must either send all enemy ships to the bottom or secure the final key area under fire - Enemy warships entering the key area capture zone will stall capture progress!
Additional Information
- To state the obvious: Be mindful of torpedo threats
- The following task: “Destroy the island's coastal battery before time runs out:” can be a bit challenging if players are too far away from an island to spot the fort on it in time.
- Likewise, the task: “Reach each of the 3 islands before San Diego” is frequently failed if the 2nd island selected is the large island at G8, while the 3rd island is the option at I7 - Eagle will often be too fast to catch and will reach the 3rd island before any player
- To avoid "losing" these stars, it is recommended that at least one group of players stays with Eagle - The direction Eagle points after slowing to capture a Key Area can be used to predict the next island, allowing players to run ahead and always beat these objectives
- Going around the map flanks to ambush enemy spawns for large damage is tempting, but may result in the team failing the above tasks, if not the operation outright...
- Forts are capable of detecting players before they themselves become detected or active. This can be inconvenient, but if you are playing from unconventional flanking positions you can use this to predict the operation flow...?
- Forts that protrude into the water can sometimes be hit and damaged by torpedoes
Trivia
- Originally released as the 3rd and final operation of the World War 2-themed "In The Name of Tomorrow" event in Update 14.7
- This Operation was inspired by the historical advance of the US Navy through the Gilbert and Marshall Islands towards Japan in the Pacific Theater.
- Pacific Offensive joined the normal Operation roster in Update 15.2
- The original version of this Operation featured a permanant secondary task: "Ensure your team uses Coordinated Fleet Support a certain number of times: (0/25)". Coordinated Fleet Support was a specific consumable only available in Pacific Offensive that applied a healing rate to every player ship in the friendly task force, activated with the '9' key. "Press 9" was trending heavily during this version of the Operation...
- "Press 9" has since been replaced with a repair area that surrounds Eagle, this task was replaced with the “San Diego's HP must remain above the threshold (%):” task.
