Pages updated:
Summary
Saving Transylvania was a PVE Scenario that debuted during Halloween 2016, and returned annually through 2022 (excluding 2020). From 2019 through 2021, two additional difficulties were added for the operation: Hard and Super Hard.

In Saving Transylvania, the mission was to escort the Transylvania through hordes of undead Zikasas, fireball-slinging catapults, and to ultimately face the terrifying Rasputin.
Saving transylvania

Saving Transylvania was the first of four story-linked operations, with the sequeling operations being Sunray in the Darkness, Terror of the Deep and finally Last Voyage of Transylvania. The special game mode Twilight Battle is also set within the same world.

Overview
Ship:Terror of the Deep
The King's flagship Transylvania was pulled into the portal by a mysterious force and disappeared. Without hesitation, the Transylvania’s escorts follow suit. Beyond the portal, the captains discovered an unknown realm, a realm of darkness. In front of the ships, the Transylvania floats unharmed, and in the distance, the portal looms. The captains decide to tow the Transylvania back to the portal. But as they sail, catapults start firing, and monstrous ships appear. Only by destroying them all will the Transylvania and her crew be able to make it safely back to their own realm.

Walkthrough
Ship:Raid for the Filth
At the start of the operation, players spawn at the west-end of the map behind the Transylvania, which is stationary. As soon as an allied ship enters the circle, the Transylvania will start moving forward. To keep the Transylvania moving, at least one allied ship must remain within the escort circle throughout the entire operation. Additionally, the Transylvania will stop if enemy ships enter the circle.
Pending approval:
During the early-mid-stage of the game, the Transylvania will sail either south or north of the island at E4. Gameplay does not change much regardless of the route, but players will need to change and plan their routes accordingly to keep sailing alongside the Transylvania. At the same time, Zikasas spawn behind the convoy, near the players' starting area.

During the mid-late-game stage of the operation, additional Zikasas will spawn closer to the Transylvania. As the Transylvania moves closer to the portal, the Rasputin will spawn in front of it, along with two Zikasas on its port and starboard side. When Rasputin sails closer, it may turn to move north or south of the Transylvania, and may sometimes even sail into the circle if it is not destroyed in time.

The Transylvania will keep sailing towards the portal as long as there are allies inside the circle. When Transylvania reaches the portal, the game ends regardless of whether all enemy ships, including Rasputin, are sunk.

Tips
Work in Progress:
* Most allied ships should stay in front of, or to the side of the Transylvania, as defending it is the main objective.
* The main objective of Blade is to sail around and torpedo enemy ships, and to lay smokescreens for the Transylvania during the late game.
* Igor’s role is to primarily use its powerful HE with a 35% fire chance to set fires on as many enemy ships as possible.
* The Jackal's role is to be the main tanking force defending the Transylvania, and to focus and eliminate the catapults as quickly as possible.
* The speed of the Transylvania varies depending on how many ships are inside the escort circle. It is recommended to have no more than three ships within the circle, as more ships means that the friendly battleships will have trouble catching up, and additionally the Transylvania will be sailing into danger faster.
* In the middle stage of the operation, Zikasas will appear from the rear of the convoy. They can safely be ignored as they are unable to catch up (as long as the Transylvania does not stop).
* The catapults take full damage from AP, so using that shell type against them is recommended.
* In later stages of the game, coordinating and laying smokes for Transylvania along the escort path can protect her from enemy fire.
* While ramming enemy ships does not deal much damage, in some situations, ramming the Rasputin in the late stages of the game can prevent it from sailing into the Transylvania's circle.
* While playing Jackal, shooting at the “mouth” on the bow of the Zikasas can yield citadel hits.
* The main guns on Zikasas do not work, only the secondaries do, and they have a range of 3 km. Attempt to destroy the Zikasa before it reaches secondary range.

Saving Transylvania
Completing the operation for the first time yielded the "Ghostbuster" achievement (can only be claimed once).
In 2016, stars did not give rewards, instead, players received missions they could complete once per game, and could receive:

* 30k credits, if they dealt 10k damage.
Sunray in the Darkness
* 100k credits, if they dealt 100k damage.
* 70k credits, for sinking 2 Zikasas.
* 100 free exp for every secondary task completed.

For completing every mission, players would receive 1 Halloween 2016 camoflage.
Terror of the Deep

The following years, the stars for each secondary tasks gave various rewards, as summarized in the table below:

* The playable ships, Blade, Igor and Jackal are based on the tech tree ships Wakatake, St. Louis and Nassau, while the enemy Zikasas and Rasputin are based on Mikasa and Imperator Nikolai I respectively.

* The playable ships each included a special commander, Abraham V. Hellsinger for Blade, Victor F. Einstein for Igor, and Henry J. Hide for Jackal. Both the commander and ship names are references to characters or elements within classic literature or media based on of it.
Raid for the Filth
** Abraham V. ** Henry J. Hide references Mr. Hyde, and Jackal references Dr. Jekyll, both from The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson.
* Zikasa is a portmanteau of "Zombie" and "Mikasa".

* Saving Transylvania was the first PvE Operation added to World of Warships, debuting on the 27th October 2016.

* In 2016, the Halloween Blade, Igor and Jackal were displayed as tier XI.

* For the 2021 rerun of Saving Transylvania, the skybox was changed, thus altering the lighting and atmosphere of the map.

Summary
Sunray in the Darkness was a PVE Scenario that debuted in 2017 as the Halloween event of said year. It reran each year up until 2022 (discounting 2020). In 2018, an additional difficulty was added: Hard, and during 2019-2021, a Super Hard difficulty would be added alongside the existing Normal and Hard difficulties.

In Sunray in the Darkness the forces of good have to fend off against an onslaught of enemy ships, while waiting for the towers to seal the portal. To defend the realm of light, players had the option to helm one of four new unique ships: Urashima, Svyatozar, Magnu-S and Nobilium (only available through 2017-2018).

Sunray in the Darkness is the second operation of the Transylvania storyline, being a direct sequel to Saving Transylvania and preceding Terror of the Deep.

Overview
After the Transylvania, along with her escorts passed through the portal and disappeared, mages panicked and sealed the portal with the help of three magical towers. The Transylvania was still within the other realm though, and the King along with the Transylvania, needed to be brought back to Silverspear Archipelago safely. The portal needed to be reopened.

Thus, the most advanced ships of the fleet were sent out to retrieve Transylvania: Urashima, Svyatozar, Magnu-S and Nobilium.

As the mages reopened the portal, the Transylvania along with her escorts emerged, and the King onboard was alive. But behind them, a fleet of monstrous and hostile ships pursued, and a noxious filth spread, destroying all life. The heroes must protect the towers to help them seal off the portal to prevent the evil from spreading and conquering the realm of light.

Walkthrough
Players spawn southwest from the center of the map, facing the portal. 10 seconds after the operation starts, the Transylvania and her escorts emerge from the portal, sailing on a straight course away from the portal (from south-west to north-east). 40 seconds after the operation starts, enemies show up and the towers begin sealing the portal. With three towers operational, closing the portal only takes 10 minutes. If towers are destroyed though, the time to close the portal will increase. The added delay varies relative to how much time is left for the portal to be sealed, thus the less time there is to seal the portal, the less the penalty for a tower being destroyed will be.

The new entity: filth, decreases the spotting range, and additionally deals damage to allied ships. Within the filth, the boss ships Rasputin and the Great Gorgon will heal.

The first six enemy ships that spawn are Zikasas, already familiar from Saving Transylvania. After that, three new main enemy ships start spawning: Ghoul, Scarab and Varg, all of which spawn inside of the filth.

When the filth reaches closer to the first tower, enemy ships will deviantly spawn outside the filth, one group to the north-east of the first tower, and one group on the north-west side. During the same time, Rasputin spawns with either one of the groups, or alternatively inside the filth. As the filth expands and engulfs the first tower, it generally collapses through fire from ships inside the filth, delaying the progress of sealing the portal.

During the middle of the operation, the Great Gorgon spawns within the filth around grid-square H2, and stays in it for most of the operation, only moving forward with the filth.

The filth continues to expand, and enemies continue to spawn within as long as the portal remains open. When the towers seal the portal, the filth recedes back into the portal, and all enemies are destroyed. Enemies destroyed in this way do not count toward the objective goals. If all three allied towers are destroyed, you lose the operation.

Tips
* Ramming the Great Gorgon while using “Energy Shield” on Magnu-S is the swiftest way to destroy the former.

* It is advised for one Magnu-S to stay close to the Transylvania, as it draws fire away from the objective ship, and Magnu-S repair zone also heals Transylvania, should it take some fire.

* Be careful with positioning. Before the enemy groups next to the first tower spawns, move in close with your destroyers or battleships to eliminate them as quickly as possible.

* If enemies are coming close enough to fire at the towers, attempt to make yourself a target to distract the enemies, either through positioning in front of the towers, or opening fire and moving close to them. Every extra second bought with the towers up matters.

* Focus on destroying the enemy ships closest to the towers or Transylvania first.

* The ships Urashima, Svyatozar, Magnu-S and Nobilium are based on the ships Kagero, Chapayev, Tirpitz and Lexington.
* The new enemy ships: Ghoul, Scarab, Varg and the Great Gorgon are based on the ships: Benson, Charles Martel, Bismarck and Shokaku respectively.
* Aircraft carrier Nobilium was only playable during the events in 2017-2018. In subsequent years it was made unavailable.
* During the original 2017 run of Sunray in the Darkness, the filth had a unique look, resembling a dark green cloud expanding out from the portal. In later iterations, the filth would be replaced with a more stylized variant.
* Similar to Saving Transylvania, the commanders and ship names are references to various media:
** Commander Mina Hurray of the Urashima references Mina Murray from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, while Urashima may be a reference to the protagonist of of well known Japanese folklore: Urashima Taro.
** Klaus V. Teslau references Nikola Tesla, and his ship Magnu-S is detailed around that, featuring prominent Tesla coils and electricity. Alternatively Teslau and Magnu-S may both be references to the TV series Sanctuary that features a character named Nikola Tesla that becomes a good friend to another physician and scientist, Helen Magnus.
** Commander Ivan K. Ulibin of the Svyatozar references Ivan Kulibin, an 18th century Russian mechanic and inventor.
** In Jack-o'-Lantern containers, commander Ivan K. Ulibin is available, but is renamed "Sairus Guererro".
* The name “Magnu-S” or Magnus has also appeared in Halloween Events within World of Tanks, specifically the Mirny-13 game modes.
* In the Developer Diaries video for Sunray in the Darkness, some ships are seen with different working names: Svyatozar is named Danko, Magnu-S is named Beowulf. Additionally Varg, one of the enemy ships, is named Kurtz.

Bugs
*During 2017, a bug was present where an operation would be completed, but not registered as such, thus players faced a situation where they would not be rewarded for the battle.
* In replays, the timer to seal the portal, along with the ship names, are bugged.

Terror of the Deep was a PVE Scenario that debuted in 2018 as the Halloween event of the year. Two difficulties were available: Normal and Hard. 2018 was the only year the operation ran.

In Terror of the Deep, the Warriors of Light go back to the realm of darkness to banish Rasputin once and for all. At their disposal are newly developed state-of-the-art ships that have the ability to submerge under water.

For this operation, players got to try five new unique ships: Barracuda, Killer Whale, Zipper Sub, Seelöwe and Gerfalcon, all of which are submarines.

Terror of the Deep is the third operation of the Transylvania storyline, being a sequel to Sunray in the Darkness and preceding Last Voyage of Transylvania. Twilight Battles also likely takes place before or after Terror of the Deep.

Overview
After Sunray in the Darkness, the Warriors of Light managed to defend Silverspear Archipelago, and along with the mages and the magic towers, they managed to seal the portal and filth away from their realm. Unfortunately, enemy ships kept creeping into the realm of light. In response, the Intanians attempted to destroy the portal, to no effect. The mages realized that the part of the portal beneath the surface was still intact, and that was how enemies managed to creep into their world.

Additionally, the Warriors of Light managed to capture a captain from the Realm of Darkness. The captain told them that Rasputin had survived every encounter, and that it was that wretched ship that kept sending hordes of ships to the Realm of Light.

Now with a resolve to hunt down and sink Rasputin once and for all, the Warriors of Light had new and innovative ships constructed, that could submerge and move under water, to sneak through the portal, to ultimately find and destroy Rasputin.

Walkthrough
The players spawn in the southwest and will have to sail northeast to find the Rasputin. In the early-mid stage of the operation, the team is split into two groups, each spawning on different sides of a long island that divides the southwest part of the map. For the first wave of enemies, each group have to face off against three Zikasas each. At the same time, three gun mounts spawn, one on each side of the island (at grid squares F1 & I4), targeting their respective groups, and one on the island itself that can shoot either group (at G4).

As the submarines continue sailing, four additional gun mounts are detected at E3, F3, G5 and H7, and two additional enemies spawn to intercept each group: a Varg and a Scarab.

After the Vargs and Scarabs are sunk, the players will have finally sailed past the long island, and are united at the middle of the map. Here, four new battleships spawn: Leviathans. Additionally, four extra gun mounts are detected on two of the islands at grid squares E5, F6, C5 and F8.

It is worth mentioning the rest of the spawn points for the gun mounts in its separate paragraph. Depending on difficulty either 14 or 17 will spawn in. Besides the gridsquares already mentioned, catapults can also spawn at F10, D10, A9, B10, A6 and A7. These, along with the four mentioned in the previous paragraph are all located on the five islands that create a circle in the northeast end of the map, the so called “Islands of the Five Ravens”, with each island housing two spawn points in total, each spawn point facing the straits that the islands create. Additionally, there are still two extra spawn points in the periphery of the map, at B3 and H9. There are 19 potential spawn points in total, but only a certain amount of catapults spawn in depending on difficulty. The catapults spawn in when the player enters a spawn points detection range (~8 km). As soon as the “Spot the enemy’s onshore gun mounts” mission is completed, no more additional gun mounts will spawn.

The Black Lair Castle, located on the C8 island heals Rasputin while it is undetected, when a friendly submarine detects it, the castle will quite literally rise up from the ground of the island, and stop healing Rasputin. The detection range of the castle is only 5 km, so players will have to sail dangerously close to find it.

Once players sail into the large ring of islands, Rasputin will spawn and sail around within the circle of islands, and more new enemies will gradually spawn: Razorworms, Octopuses and Steel Rats. In total, four Octopuses can spawn, along with three Steel Rats and Razorworms each.

The operation ends as soon as Rasputin is defeated, or when all players have been sunk.

Tips
* While Barracuda has good secondaries, it is not worth trying to gun down the catapults and ballistas with them due to the latter having high HP pools. It is simply not worth the time.
* As Gerfalcon is the fastest submarine, it is recommended that one player sailing it moves up to the Black Lair Castle to spot it in advance.
* The gun mounts are not able to spot for themselves, so players can safely surface in close proximity to them as long as other enemy ships are not in the vicinity.

Trivia
* Terror of the Deep was the first time submarines were implemented as a playable class in World of Warships.
* The submarines in the event are all modelled and based on real submarines:
** Submarines Gerfalcon, Seelöwe and Killer Whale are based on the Type XXVI (in-game: U-4501), Type XXI (in-game: U-2501) and USS Gato respectively.
** While the real-life counterparts of Barracuda and Zipper Sub are not implemented in the game, they’re inspired by the British HMS X-1 and Soviet M-class submarines (possibly a series XII variant) respectively.
* All subs in the event were listed as tier 7.
* The new enemy ships, Leviathan, Octopus, Razorworm and Steel Rat are modelled after North Carolina, Mogami, Kiev and Z-23 respectively.
* The submarine commanders in this game mode have been seen in different ships from the prior events, and the respective submarine designs reflect the aesthetic of their original ship.

Summary
The Last Voyage of Transylvania is a PvE scenario that debuted in 2023 as the Halloween event of said year. The operation has not been rerun after its original debut.

In Last Voyage of Transylvania, A friendly task force escort the Transylvania, now filled to the brim with special explosives, back to the portal, to destroy it once and for all and to sever the connection between the realms of Light and Darkness. In Last Voyage of Transylvania, players get to pick any ship at tier VIII - IX to participate with.

Last Voyage of Transylvania is the final operation of the Transylvania storyline, being a sequel to Terror of the Deep.

Overview
After Terror of the Deep, the warriors of light crippled Rasputin severely, but the Black Lair Castle was left standing. Using dark witchcraft from the structure, the fleet of darkness was able to recover their losses, and heal Rasputin.

With a newly awakened wrath, the Fleet of Darkness has reconstructed the portal using evil witchcraft, and sent hordes of ships through the portal and into Silverspear Archipelago. Through a long war of attrition, resources of the realm of light have been depleted, the three towers have fallen, and the ships of the Intanian fleet badly damaged. Intania is now in peril, and the Supreme Court of Intania has resorted to contact our world to ask for help.

Transylvania, now fitted with special explosives must sail through the filth-ridden archipelago, to deliver the explosives to destroy the portal, and sever the connection to the Realm of Darkness once and for all.

Players familiar with the former Halloween events will recognize the map, indeed, it is the same map used in Sunray in the Darkness. This time however, instead of escorting the Transylvania away from the portal, the player is tasked with escorting the Transylvania to the portal. The Transylvania and players spawn on the northeast, and have to sail southwest to the portal. The entire world is encompassed in filth, but using a special magic, the Transylvania creates a safe zone around itself. As the operation progresses, the Transylvania begins losing its magic, and the safe zone shrinks.

Since the filth damages the player significantly, it is recommended that ships stay within the Transylvania's aura. Besides damaging allied ships, the filth has a few other unique characteristics. Ships within filth are provided with a concealment bonus, and enemy ships only take half damage while in the filth. The boss ships Rasputin and The Great Gorgon actively heal while in the filth as well.

After ~40 seconds from the game starting, the first enemies will spawn in around the middle of the map: one Octopus, Scarab, Ghoul and Razorworm each.

After ~2:30 minutes from the game starting, the three Mutantovsks; Megaera, Alecto and Tisiphone spawn and sail in front and across of the convoy. One minute after spawning, the Mutantovsks teleport away, but will enter the battle once again in a later stage of the game. If a Mutantovsk has taken damage and teleports away, it will teleport back in with full health.

Once the convoy begins reaching the middle of the map, More enemies will start spawning from either the west or south, at grid squares D3 or G5 respectively. The enemies spawning are: one Octopus, Scarab and Leviathan each. Two minutes later, the Mutantovsks teleport back in at around grid square E4 and will sail straight towards the convoy, and then around the edge of the filth once they get close enough. Like last time, they teleport away after a minute passes from their spawn.

As players reach the third tower, the third wave of ships will spawn in at around the G2 grid square, consisting of one Varg, Steel Rat and Octopus each. Two minutes later, the fourth wave spawns south from the convoy, consisting of a Varg, Steel Rat and Scarab each. During the same time, The Great Gorgon will spawn in on grid square F1, and will sail south parallel to the convoy.

Shortly after The Great Gorgon spawns, the Mutantovsks teleport back in from the H3 grid square. This time, instead of teleporting away, they will sail straight at Transylvania in a final attempt to destroy her.

When Transylvania reaches G3, the final wave spawns. It Consists of two Rasputins spawning on either side of the portal, that will intercept the Transylvania as it sails to the portal.

The operation ends in victory if Transylvania is successfully escorted to the portal, and in defeat if the Transylvania, or all players sink.

Tips
* It is recommended that only one or two destroyers sail out to pick up the buffs from the towers, the main fleet should focus on protecting the Transylvania.
* French destroyers like Mogador stop taking damage in the filth once their main hull is damage saturated since unlike other ships, their main hull has less module HP than the total HP of the ship.
* Focus fire on one Mutantovsk and sink it before switching target to the other ships.

Rewards & Achievements
Completing the operation for the first time yields players the "Last voyage of Transylvania" achievement (can only be claimed once).
Alongside the event, special daily and weekly missions were available that rewarded players with Community Tokens and Jack-o'-Lantern containers.

Trivia
* The camouflage applied to ships within the game mode exists as a permanent and expendable camoflage: “Colors of Intania”, but has never been released.
* The Rasputins name is likely a reference to Grigori Rasputin. A link between the two can also be made, as the real life Rasputin has become notorious for surviving multiple assassination attempts and near-death experiences, and the Rasputin in game survived Saving Transylvania, Sunray in the Darkness, Terror of the Deep, Twilight Battle and Raid for the Filth.
* While Mutantovsks haven’t been seen within the Halloween operations before, it was introduced in a spin-off game mode Raid for the Filth, that released in 2019.
