August von Parseval — German Tier VIII aircraft carrier.
A draft design for a large, high-speed aircraft carrier, based on the Graf Zeppelin class of carriers, but equipped with a diesel propulsion plant and a different combination of armaments.
August von Parseval was released on 7 July 2020.

Performance
August von Parseval specializes in dealing irreparable damage to all ship classes. Her high plane speed lets her quickly react to enemy movements and provide support anywhere. She has the same weaknesses as other German carriers, notably her fragile squadrons and low plane reserves.
Bf 109G Attack Planes
August von Parseval’s attack aircraft carry armor-piercing rockets. One squadron contains 9 aircraft, with a strike of 3 planes that fire 4 rockets each for a total of 12 rockets. With their high speed, good agility, and short machine gun delay, they are consistent against agile targets. These rockets are similar to cruiser AP and can citadel most cruisers at her tier, but will often overpenetrate destroyers and ricochet at extreme angles. Thus, they must always be aimed and fired at broadside ships.
Due to these characteristics, her attack aircraft are specialized in dealing citadel damage to lightly armored targets but are largely ineffective against large cruisers and battleships.
Bf 110C Dive Bombers
August von Parseval’s dive bombers carry armor-piercing bombs that deal heavy damage. One squadron contains 9 aircraft, with a strike consisting of 3 planes that drop 1 bomb each for a total of 3 bombs. The bombs have high alpha damage and decent dispersion due to a smaller aiming ellipse compared to Manfred von Richtofen. However, they can struggle to citadel higher tier battleships due to their lower penetration. While the planes have low HP, it is somewhat offset with access to the in-flight repair consumable, unique to high-tier German AP dive bombers.
Bf 110C Torpedo Bombers
August von Parseval’s torpedo bombers are an intermediate squadron to be used when the other squadrons are returning, or against fast ships like destroyers. One squadron contains 9 aircraft, with a strike consisting of 3 planes that launch 1 torpedo each for a total of 3 torpedoes. These torpedoes are very fast and have a short arming distance, making them perfect to use against agile targets. However, each individual torpedo deals low damage and they are less effective against battleships.
Due to their flexibility, the torpedo bombers are the best tool to hunt destroyers. This squadron also gets access to an in-flight repair consumable, which helps when striking targets with good anti-aircraft dps to prevent plane losses.
Ship:
August von Parseval is a lightly armored aircraft carrier that travels at 31.8 knots with 13.1 km concealment. Her deck is only 25 mm thick, which does not protect her against most battleship armor piercing shells at any range.
Her anti-aircraft suite is decent, with high medium range AA dps. However, she has a low range of 5.2 km but produces 6 flak.
Tips:
- When dive bombing a target, it is best to release the bombs as fast as possible against thicker armor. While the bomb penetration does not change, the angle of the bomb drop changes depending on how long it takes to drop the bombs during the attack phase. Bombs that are dropped high against thicker armor arrive closer to a perpendicular angle and penetrate further before exploding. Bombs that are dropped low against thinner armor impact at an angle and will be able to fuse on thinner plates.
- It is possible to make adjustments during the preparatory phase when the reticle is orange, as the reticle continues to aim even when turning (before the green attack phase)
- When using rockets on destroyers, change the angle of attack to ~55 degrees, so that rockets can arm instead of overpenetrating.
Pros:
- Fast planes
- AP rockets are effective against cruisers
- Fast torpedoes with low arming distance
- High AP bomb alpha damage
- Dive bombers and Torpedo bombers have access to in-flight repair consumable
- Decent AA suite
Cons:
- 25 mm flight deck
- Smaller plane hangar
- AP rockets are ineffective against angled targets
- AP bombs struggle to penetrate thicker armor
- Torpedoes deal low damage
