Georgia — American special premium Tier IX battleship.

A "high-speed battleship" project which preceded the Iowa-class ships. The main battery comprised 457 mm guns placed in twin turrets, which were developed alongside the project of the ship herself in 1938.

Georgia was first released for sale worldwide on 14 June 2019. Since Update 0.10.1 the ship is no longer available to purchase.

Georgia is loaded with so many gimmicks that any high tier Soviet, French, or Royal Navy battleship would be envious of her. A low number of hard-hitting guns, superior secondaries, and a special set of consumables make this "paper ship" perform very differently from her US counterparts like Iowa or Missouri.

Georgia comes packed with six 18-inch guns in three twin-turrets, an arrangement that is (rather unfortunately) familiar to Gneisenau captains. She does comes with a much more forgiving dispersion curve and a 26 second reload to compensate, though this is but a small mercy as Georgia will most certainly be lagging behind other battleships in terms of damage output. Still, her broadside power is not to be trifled with, considering she has the second highest AP citadel damage in the game at 15,750 per shell thanks to her hefty 18-inch AP shells, second only to the Shikishima. Needless to say, anyone giving a broadside to what equates to roughly 2/3 of a Yamato-class battleship's main battery is just asking to be sunk.

Adding to that, Georgia’s secondaries are practically identical to those found on Massachusetts, with the same improved range, rate of fire and accuracy. She also borrows Massachusetts’s unique Repair Party  with a faster cooldown, and Bourgogne’s Engine Boost  which increases her speed to nearly 38 knots when active. This does seem to set Georgia up as a mid- and close-range brawler. This isn't really the case as Georgia simply isn't as durable with a more vulnerable citadel, and simply doesn't have the damage output to do so. Generally, players should try to assess the situation to see when is the best opportunity for them to charge in guns blazing or flank around using Georgia’s blistering pace to catch an unaware enemy on the broadside. This is the most efficient way to take advantage of Georgia’s main guns and secondaries to maximise their damage output.

Georgia is undoubtedly the most unique amongst US battleships and because of that, she is pretty fun and comfortable to play. Treating her like an uptiered Massachusetts with more firepower and speed certainly isn't a bad way to play, and it will reward you for it.

• Lowest barrel count of all Tier 9 battleships with only six rifles.
• Main battery DPM is among the lowest in tier.

• Same armor profile as Iowa, vulnerable to HE spam.
• Poor AP shell velocity.
• Poor torpedo protection.
• Large turn radius.

Georgia captains should mount standard signal flags to improve the ship's performance in battle. Sierra Mike () flags are highly recommended to increase the ship's top speed. India Delta () and India Yankee () flags should be mounted to improve the ship's survivability. November Foxtrot () flags can also be mounted to decrease consumable cooldown time. Lastly, economic and special signal flags can be mounted to increase the ship's economic gains per battle.

Design

Georgia is a fictionalized version of Iowa Scheme IV, from May 1938. Rather than the nine 406mm/45 caliber guns that this design was planned to have, however, Georgia is represented in game with three twin 457mm/48 caliber Mark A guns. During the design stage for what eventually became the Iowa-class battleship, the US Navy considered designs that included 457mm guns. However, the designers found that the penetration difference was marginal compared to the 406mm/50, and the increased weight meant that only two 457mm guns could be installed for the same weight as three 406mm/50 guns. Since the size of American battleships was limited by the Panama Canal, fitting nine 457mm guns would require massive compromises in either armor or speed. If neither of those would be sacrificed, then the ship would not be able to fit through the Panama Canal. Eventually, the design progressed and was eventually laid down and finished as the Iowa-class.

The design was given the name Georgia in accordance with US Navy tradition to name battleships after states. She shares this name with the Virginia-class pre-dreadnought USS Georgia (BB-15) and the Ohio-class guided missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN-729).

Historical Inaccuracies

• Historical 406mm/45 caliber guns in triple turrets are missing.
• In-game gun arrangement was considered for the scheme IV, but ultimately rejected because it would have not let the ship fit in the Panama canal.
• Georgia is actually the name of a Virginia-class pre-dreadnought battleship that served in the US Navy from 1906 to 1920. No other battleship ever inherited the name.
• Designed in 1938, but the in-game model depicts the ship with late-war anti-aircraft guns. The 12.7 mm Browning and quad 28mm/75 AA guns which were standard for early WW2 battleships are missing.
• Georgia is depicted in late-war camouflage. Measure 2 camouflage which would've been applied to the ship when it first entered service is missing.
