Flandre — French special premium Tier VIII battleship.
One of the projects developed in response to received intel about planned German battleships included the armament of three triple-gun turrets with 380 mm guns, and it was essentially a development of the Richelieu and Gascogne classes. That option was rejected, and the project that led to the creation of the Alsace-class battleship was selected as the final one.
Flandre was first released for sale on at the end of March 2021.

Performance
Refer to the in-game Port screens for more useful data.
Premium Tier VIII French battleship Flandre carries nine 380 mm guns with the same good velocity and high AP penetration as other French battleships. She is based on Alsace, and has a similar play style and many similar features.
Armament:
Flandre carries nine 380 mm guns in three triple turrets, with a range of 20 km. She fires the same shells as Richelieu and Alsace, with decent alpha damage, good velocity, and good penetration. Her AP shells can overmatch the 25 mm armor present on many high-tier cruisers, as well as the 26 mm plating of mid-tier battleships. Her HE shells have a 36% fire chance and 63 mm of penetration.
Flandre’s guns have a decent sigma of 1.8, but the same poor dispersion found on most French battleships. While she has more guns than Richelieu, she has a long reload time of 33 seconds. Her turrets have a decent 180-degree turn time of 36 seconds.
Flandre features twenty-eight 100 mm and nine 152 mm secondary mounts. On paper, they have the highest secondary damage per minute in the game. However, they lack improved accuracy and have poor penetration — just 17 mm on the smaller 100 mm mounts, which is not enough to penetrate destroyers. It is not recommended to build for secondaries, as a standard tank build will increase Flandre’s biggest strength of survivability.
Survivabillity:
Flandre’s hull is visibly similar to Alsace, with a similar armor scheme. Her bow, stern, and midsection have 32 mm plating. While this is enough to bounce most AP shells when angled, she is vulnerable to high caliber HE shells and overmatch from AP shells larger than 460 mm. Her side plating is 50 mm, which is enough to bounce all AP shells when correctly angled.
Her concealment is good, reaching as low as 12.7 km. She has a high HP pool of 75,400 and a high 44% torpedo damage reduction. However, she gets one less charge of her Repair Party
consumable than many other battleships. As a result, Flandre should play at medium ranges, where her high health and low concealment can be used effectively, without the risk of overextending and dying quickly.
Maneuverability:
Flandre is a fast battleship, reaching a top speed of 35.2 knots with the Sierra Mike signal. Unlike other high tier French battleships, she does not have an Engine Boost
consumable. Her 16.6 second rudder shift and 910 m turning circle are both decent for her tier. Due to her high speed, Flandre can change positions easily when needed.
Anti-Aircraft:
While Flandre produces 10 flak clouds, more than any other Tier VIII battleship, she has low DPS on both her long- and medium-range AA – 276.5 and 115.5 respectively. This is definitely not enough to stop an aircraft carrier from striking, so grouping with allied ships to overlap anti-aircraft auras is recommended in games with carriers.
Battle Performance:
Flandre is a mid-range battleship that likes to play on flanks and punish broadside enemies, much like the tech tree French battleships. Her high base speed—even without an Engine Boost - allows her to quickly reposition for better shots. Her low concealment and large health pool allow her to play closer to enemies, and provide crossfire on enemy battleships and cruisers. Because of its good penetration and velocity, players should mainly fire AP, while using HE on angled targets.
While she has a large health pool, her 32 mm armor scheme means she is susceptible to high caliber HE shells, and should be cautious when pushing into cruisers. She also has one less charge of her Repair Party, which limits her overall healing potential.
Pros:
- Large HP pool
- AP shells with good penetration and velocity
- High flak count
- High secondary DPM
- Fast, with decent maneuverability
- Good concealment
Cons:
- 32 mm armor scheme is vulnerable to cruiser HE
- Shorter main battery range
- Long main battery reload
- Weaker dispersion
- Poor AA DPS
- Low secondary battery penetration
- One less charge of her Repair Party

- No Engine Boost
consumable
Research
Optimal Configuration
The straightforward shoot-and-survive build is optimal for Flandre for most captains. However, some may prefer a secondary build - quite fun in the right circumstances. Due to the poor forward gun angles and HE penetration of her secondaries, building them for brawling is not recommended.
Upgrades
The recommended upgrades for Flandre are:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1

- Slot 2: Damage Control System Modification 1

- Slot 3: Aiming Systems Modification 1

- Slot 4: Damage Control System Modification 2

Commander Skills
While not normally considered optimal, for a secondary build take Inertial Fuse for HE Shells, Long-Range Secondary Battery Shells, Improved Secondary Battery Aiming, and possibly Pyrotechnician,
